Below is a link to the current list of units in the CAV universe. There are many more but we had to start somewhere! 🙂

I'm currently working on a scenario generator for CAV and want to get some feedback on total Threat Value sizes. Take a look and let me know what you think.
Starting Threat Values
Players should agree upon an approximate number of squads and an average TV amount per model to determine the number of Threat Value points available to each Force Group. Keep in mind that the larger the average size of models, the "heavier" (total Damage Tracks) a Force Group will be. The following table can help players gauge the force size they wish to use.
The table uses an average squad size of five models.
Force Group Size (CAVs only)
One Model One Squad
Extra-Small 100 500
Small 200 1000
Medium 400 2000
Large 600 3000
Extra-Large 800 4000
Force Group Size (Vehicles only)
Extra-Small 100 500
Small 150 750
Medium 250 1250
Large 350 1750
Extra-Large 450 2250
Force Group Size (CAV and Vehicles)
Extra-Small 100 500
Small 175 875
Medium 325 1625
Large 425 2125
Extra-Large 625 3125
Note: While this table refers to CAVs and vehicles only, the final number of Threat Value points also encompasses the inclusion of aircraft and infantry.
Example: Using the above table, both players decide they want to play a game with at least three squads of medium-sized CAVs and vehicles to a side, allowing each of them a starting Threat Value Pool of 4875 points.

With CAV-CON '22 coming up we are once again sponsoring CAV-based categories in conjunction with Reaper's Master Paint Open. With that in mind we know everyone can't make it to the show so we will also be offering a virtual show as well running until Sept 30, 2022! To enter simply submit your entries below and make sure to note the category in the subject line please. Enter as many as you want but we will only judge the one (in each category) that we feel is your best work.
Categories include:
Best Single CAV Model (Armor/Ordnance)
Best CAV Squad (Armor/Ordnance)
Best CAV Diorama (Diorama)
There is a trophy for 1st place in each category (the coveted Gold Dictator!) with medallions for 2nd and 3rd (in-person entries only). We will also be providing a $50, $25, and $10 gift certificate in each category as well for both in-person and virtual entries).
SO fire up those brushes!

Thank you! I have always been a more hard sci-fi guy when it comes to wargaming. I always try to employ as much "real world" into something if I can.

Sorry to necro this - but is there a pdf available now for the core rulebook?
I like physical books, but being able to have the rules available digitally would be amazing. While we have no plans in releasing the complete book as a pdf. The core rules will be available in July as a free pdf.

The starter squads are a Specialist Squad. Anything up to four models can go in this type of squad regardless of role (so you could put four aircraft in it for example). A model with the SA: Specialist must always go in a Specialist Squad.

Any news on this? I can totally print out my own cards, but having printed ones would be nicer.
In the same vein ... rules update? Is the book I bought at Adepticon about to be out of date?
Hi Charles,
No progress on having printed cards yet. The rules update is a pdf supplement to the rule book. It will tweak a few things, add some clarifications and add some new rules to try out.

Rules update indirect fire question
in CAV: Strike Operations Rules Discussion
Posted
The thing to remember is indirect fire is at a spot on the board, not the model, though many times a model is standing on that "spot." So, modifiers that affect getting the rockets there apply to the strike point roll while those that would help/hurt hitting any models there apply to the combat roll.
Your base strike point is based on range, so (9) for short, (10) for medium, (11) for long, and (12) for extreme. Modifiers that help that roll include targeting computer, wizzo, fcs, etc. any that help gets the rockets there.
If a model is in the final AoE of the attack, then the base to hit number for the combat roll is ALWAYS (6). This number is modified for cover, stationary, double time and salvo for the most part.
A critical success on the strike roll has no effect, a critical fumble requires an ammo check and a special drift roll. A critical success on the combat roll adds 1d6, while a critical fumble is simply a miss.
A model adjacent (less than 1") to blocking cover is immune to indirect fire but also cannot shoot (through the cover anyways). Even a strike point AoE that catches the model still cannot damage it.
