  1. How many points was this in total? What was the ultimate limit for the league?
  2. I predict the first usage will be in Nascar to set up a rotating sponsor display on the car so everyone gets equal time under the spotlight.
  3. So in my continuing quest to ask questions about things CAVBoss hasn't gotten around to yet the following thought crossed my mind. Dropships carry CAV's from transport vessel to planet side and back again. What do fighters and bombers do? Do they hitch a lift on the same ship as the CAV's or do they have a intra-atmospheric carrier of their own or are they capable of space flight long enough to go from carrier to atmosphere? (Somehow I don't see a Tsuiseki doing this.) For an example in Battletech a Union class dropship can support 2 fighters alongside 12 mechs. A Leopard class carries 2 fighters and 4 mechs. Can Badgers and Broadswords do the same so that the fighters are ready to launch and not need prep and assembly at the LZ before sortie?
  4. 5th Light Mechanized Brigade - The Thirst Quenchers. Led by Alejandro "Sprite" Limon. Callsign issued due to a slightly smaller than average stature and a love of an ancient Terran form of entertainment called a videogame.
  5. The Green Knights? The Jade Cavaliers? The Emerald Knights Errant? The Green Hornets? Second in command will need the callsign of Kato. The Chartreuse Champions? The Green Square Deal? If your company has a rep for honest dealings and an environmentally friendly modus operandi. The Malachite Marauders? The Green-Eyed Monsters? The 10th street Can't-Think-Of-A-Name Gang?
  6. Black Market, Secondary Market, fell off the back of a Badger whichever works.
  7. Depends, whats available thus far? I believe we have the poster boy for the game, the Dictator B for the Rach, already. Perhaps the lead Cav for each faction? Adon - Chancellor/Challenger (Not the Ogre, he tends to polarize opinion apparently) Almirithil - Kodiak or Grizzly Templar - Centurion although I would make a case for the Crusader Malvernis - I would like a Butcher B but again that's a polarizing choice apparently so a Pillager or Assassin? Terran - Thunderbird or Katana looks cool. Tsuiseki just cause it's based on one of the greatest military aircraft of all time, OF ALL TIME. RItterlich - Rhino seems to be the poster child for them. Although I like the squat, heavily armored "go ahead and gimme your best shot, I can take it." attitude of the Tiger.
  8. Pop-up is like having condiments on a restaurant table. If I got something I can use it on, great it's available, otherwise it's there for next time. It's not something to base the force around.
  9. The attached is a Light Attack force I ginned up for a 2500 point game sometime soon. The Attack Squad is 4 Royal Chieftains. Medium Mac (P), Countermeasures, Pop-up and Advanced TC will hopefully make a Sniper unit out of them while allowing them to evade incoming fire. Blessed with great resilience they aren't. The Specialist Squad is a Chancellor and a Challenger. Many guns, much shooting. They're the Anvil to the Chieftains Hammer. And with the weapon mix they've got a little something for everyone. The Flight squad is a pair of Dragonflies. APA 2, Tag, Improved Handling. We're going to jink, zig, zag, dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge all over the place while feeding targeting info and bonuses back to our friends in the tanks and CAV's. And hope we're considered inconsequential enough you don't devote too much firepower to disposing of us. This was built out of models owned. Yes I could have done better/differently with Dervishes and Kestrals and such but the budget only stretches so far and Khardullis demands a certain devotion. Adon Light Attack Force.pdf
  10. I don't know what mental block I have about mixing CAV's and Vehicles in the same squad. Everytime I see it, it triggers an automatic reflex that says "That's not legal!" and yet it's completely legal.
  11. You could. You could do that. 1,912 points for 4 CAV's with Armor 5 though, even transports can have guns that will damage you. Strike first and quickly and run like hell while they wait for the canopy window polarization to undo from all the radiation.
  12. So say we have a Templar Specialist squad consisting of 2 Spartan Recon Cav's and 2 Centurion Super stompy Cav's. (Don't ask, Alcohol was involved) And that said Templars are out shooting up Rach, like you do. Spartans have TAG and EST Centurions have all the guns and an inferiority complex cause the Duelist pilots said they were fat. Upon Activation of the squad each Spartan declares a target lock on a different target. Spartan 1 target locks Dictator Blue and Spartan 2 target locks Dictator Green. When the EST goes off does the squad get locks on both Dictators? Do they get to choose which target lock they accept if they are only allowed one or is it last one triggered comes out on top? Does the targeting system on the Centurions overload from the double input and explode in the Wizzo's face like he's a red shirt on Star Trek? Do I possibly need a intervention?
  13. As a Warmachine vet they have been doing multi configuration kits for years now for Warmachine and Hordes. Each army generally had 2 or 3 basic chassis and the loadout varied depending on model. The Ironclad/Defender/Cyclone kit came with the parts to make 1 of the 3 variants for example but the only real difference was in the arms. If you were good with a drill you could magnetize the body and just swap arms as needed. Character/Named models switched over to a upgrade pack to go with the basic 'jack kit. For Example Torch (A Khador Character 'jack) is just a Decimator/Juggernaut/Destroyer kit with $10 of metal bits added.
  14. 80/1/19. Although attempts are being made to get the 19 up. I'm afraid that hobby number just ain't moving all that much.
  15. Awesome, I need 2 Crossbows, 2 Ghasts and 4 Tsuisekis which are already out.
  16. So the question on everyone's mind, I'm sure, is what goodies will be released for everyone's favorite desert dwelling theologians? I'm hoping for something along the Flight, Transport or Recon lines as we seem to have Attack and Fire Support well in hand. All kidding aside I think CAVBoss said the focus was skewed toward Almirithil as they have the least amount available and the Twitch feed from last night mentioned new Quad CAV's were in the works. I'd like a Raider Transport and Ultracast Ghasts if we're being specific. A Vindicator wouldn't go Unappreciated either.
  17. Do the 5x2 magnets stick out over the lip of the base so the model would be unstable when on the field? This is using the supplied bases of course. I had a pack of 5x1 magnets from when I was building Titans and it looked like a single 5x1 fit but a pair stacked together stuck out. Nevermind, Empirical evidence shows 5x2 is the way to go. Forget I said Anything.
  18. Ok so as promised here is the report from the first full fledged game played ever. A fun time was had by all and a few things were learned or proven to not be considered fully. We played 1v1 as there was no other takers today. I had sent my opponent my demo lists to peruse the day before game and also to maybe print out as I currently have no functioning printer. I then sent my opponent my lists again because instead of sending .pdf files i sent the .cfm files from CavFM. I am then informed he had decided to use a list of his own creation because he wanted to paint models. This is fine despite the strange foreign notion of painting stuff. Upon arrival i find he has set up the table already, a ruined city somewhere in the verse. Having previously decided to use Templar as everything was painted and I wouldn't look like a complete schmuck running a unpainted force vs. his painted force. I find that his force consists of 2 Centurions. Admiring his paint job done in one evening and hiding my "Painted by skippy the wonder dog" models behind terrain, we set them down and proceeded to read the rules for deploying models for Scenario 1, Stand and Fight and then deploy them. Pre Deployment Post Deployment Eh. Rommel and Montgomery we ain't. The first turn is played and everyone jockeys for position. A imbalance is quickly discovered as 4 models vs. 2 models means I get Twice the actions and can respond much easier to his moves than he can to mine. The second round is played and a volley of Rockets is fired from the Sovereign 3 (Back most Blue CAV) at the Left side Centurion but with no bonuses the salvo scatters way off target and makes a new crater. The Third round sees the Blue Centurion step forward and try a Salvo Strike of PBG's vs the Leading Centurion on the OP force. This proves to be largely ineffectual as I forgot to A. Get a target lock from the Spartan on the Left and pass it to everyone via EST or B. Get a target lock from the Centurion itself having opted to close the distance instead. The OP force decided to show how it's done taking target locks and firing all PBG's and Guided Missiles individually putting 7 points of damage all told on my Centurion. The remainder of my force starts to worry about who exactly is running this army. The fourth round sees the tables turn. My force pulled 3 activation cards in a row. The pilot of my Centurion, having encouraged the Wizzo by kicking him and asking politely if he'll kindly pull his head out and get with the program calls an audible to the rest of the squad. The Spartan activates first Declaring a Target Lock and using EST to pass that to the rest of the squad. He then activates his ECM to attempt to prevent the OP force from gaining locks of their own. The Centurion then moves forward reducing the range from Long to Medium and proceeds to Overdrive the PBG's. This is where having updated rules is important. My stat card is the one CAVBoss had printed up in the last Kickstarter and was handing out with the Templar Faction Pack. The overdrive rules on it are different from the ones in the Rulebook and are different from the Centurion stat card Jeff printed out for his squad last night. Also further inspection of the Cheat Sheet shows the Indirect Fire rules having a strike point of +6 instead of +10. Further Preparation will be needed before playing again and I need a printer of my own. Having successfully overdriven the PBG's the Centurion laid heavy damage out and managed to knock over the Left Centurion on the OP Force through a failed Pilot Check. The Crusader rounded the corner and added Insult to Injury with it's own PBG's and killed the prone Centurion. The last member of the OP force dished out more damage to my Centurion but without a target lock of it's own the dice rolls were poor and only 2 more damage were added to a total of 8. The Sovereign 3 added Guided Missiles to the dogpile but failed to do anything. For the Fifth round, having figured out which end of the tube the plasma burst comes out. All 4 of my CAV's replayed the last round with the Right Centurion as guest of honor. Another brace of Overdriven PBG's and a failed pilot check saw off the Right Centurion. The game lasted about 90 minutes and all in all a fine time was had by everybody. In 2 weeks another game will be played with different army lists and possibly the addition of Tanks and Infantry.
  19. THe majority of the people in the club have a historical wargaming background. So if I say "Almirithial has a Lend-Lease going with Ritterlich while they develop their own CAV's" they'll all go oh ok cool. Yeah it's slow, But once it gets there 3 Heavy PBG (P) ought to make up for that a bit. And the Revenant in the Malvernis List and Emperor in the Rach list aren't exactly speed demons themselves, although they do have some missiles to fire on the way in.
  20. 1. No, by virtue of the fact that I've got the rulebook and have been watching Twitch feeds I've got the most experience with the game. Basically it's Noobs all the way down. However starting small generally means you only bought $100 worth of stuff instead of the normal $200. 2. Terrain we got plenty of, Objectives I usually use the old "The last case of Drake Beer on planet is over there. You want R&R go get it." which keeps it accessible for everyone I find. 3. See above. Also my 60 second Precis on the factions are highly prized. "What are the Rach?" Neutral Evil Klingons with no filters or real social skills that are probably going to be overthrown by the undercastes in their society." 4. We try. Problem is the 40 year old adolescents are fine with it and the 40 year old "Serious Wargamers" are against it.
  21. So tomorrow, 06/16/21, I'm off to play CAV using the full rules set. I have prepared a 2500 pt specialist squad for each of the factions. I've tried to base the squads off the faction starter packs offered with the rulebook (Always make it easy for people to give CAVBoss money, it keeps him happy and productive) However changes were made when a Faction Pack came out over 2500 pts as we try to follow the rules (ex. Swapping a Malvernis Specter B for the Haunt). The lists are all 2 Attack, 1 Fire Support and 1 Recon model and all CAV's. Hopefully they will show off what is possible in game. Future sessions will introduce tanks, aircraft and infantry just as soon as we get a basic grasp of gameplay and a 2 hour session takes 2 hours instead of 3.5-4. Thoughts?
